Former eBay Exec takes the helm at PeSA Australia

Media release
For the past 10 years, the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (PeSA) has actively represented the interests of professional eBay sellers in Australia. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual Internet Conference to be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in May 2016. An expected 1000 delegates are expected to attend to hear an array of first class international presenters share insights on the latest global eCommerce trends and best practices.
The PeSA Board has worked successfully with eBay on many occasions to achieve positive outcomes for professional eBay sellers. As part of a restructure, former eBay Seller Education Manager Tim Davies is taking up the role of PeSA Australia President. Sometimes called ‘Mr eBay’, Tim is also Principal Consultant at Zellis, co-founder of Fuse Retail, and well known amongst the Australian eBay seller community.
Internet Conference founder Phil Leahy said, “Tim Davies’ experience as an eBay seller and a former eBay executive provides PeSA Australia a great opportunity to meet the challenges of the future. Tim has demonstrated passion and commitment to helping eBay sellers succeed and the community is richer for his help and guidance.”
“I’m excited about the prospects for professional sellers on eBay in 2016 and beyond” said Davies. “eBay is a fantastic way for Australian merchants and retailers to connect with millions of online shoppers. The low barriers to entry and sheer number of customers make eBay an attractive place to trade. However the steady influx of mainstream retailers into the eBay markeplace and online generally is challenging smaller merchants to stay sharp.”
This week PeSA Australia launched its own website www.pesaaustralia.org, separate from the Internet Conference for the first time. The new PeSA Australia website is intended to be a useful information and engagement resource for the Australian eBay seller community.
According to PeSA Australia, there are over 15,000 professional sellers in Australia relying wholly or partly on the eBay Marketplace for their income, representing around $2Bn in sales turnover annually.
